The hare was slightly overdone, but beggars couldn't be choosers after all. Kagami ate quietly, no point in being ravenous over such small meat. She could easily bite her fingers. All too soon the meat was gone, and Kagami looked around the forest as if something was there.
"I could find us some fish if you want. The stream will more then likely have some."

Veyl poked at the healing skin, then lifted her gaze up to Kagami. She didn't want to go back to the stream and neither did she want Kagami going there. "I'm fine, thanks," Veyl said, but wouldn't stop the other if she was still hungry. "I should sleep. Do you, uh-"

Gathering her things and choosing her space against one of the trees, Veyl set her pack down as a makeshift pillow. Her lips pulled into a tight line as she considered her words carefully. "Will you be staying nearby until morning?" The demon was dead, but Veyl did not want to think about others that may come in the night. Good thing about summer was that nights were shorter, but that did not mean they were any less dark.

An eyebrow lifted as Veyl asked if Kagami would stay for the night. After a moment she closed her eye, folded her arms, and nodded.
"Not a problem, I happen to be used to watching over people as it is my profession. I am a bodyguard after all."
Kagami settled against a tree, weapon in the circle of her arms and lying against her shoulder.
"I will be awake a while longer, you rest."

"Oh- oh I didn't mean it like that," Veyl crossed her fingers nervously as she watched Kagami. "You don't have to, it's just- it's easier knowing someone else is there, I-" apparently realizing she was babbling, Veyl promptly closed her mouth and gave a nod, then finally settled down to make herself comfortable on the ground.

"Thank you," she said after a moment of silence. "I'll make it up to you, somehow."

Kagami waved off her babbling and nodded to her thanks.
"Think nothing of it, it is my job."
Was all she replied with before getting comfortable against the trunk of the tree at her back. Listening to everything around her to make sure her temporary client was safe.

"Then I should pay for your service," Veyl decided, placing a hand in front of her mouth as she yawned. "G'night, Kagami."

The redhead rolled to her side and hugged her body as she fell asleep; it took some minutes, but once sleep came to her, she would not wake until morning.

Kagami remained silent, vigilant as she always was. Pay needed to be earned, and she would do just that. As the red head fell asleep Kagami began to listen closer, for any signs of encroaching wild life. Be they natural or of demonic nature. As two ours flew by she began to feel weary, and let her own eyes shut. As vigilant as she was, she did need to rest too.
